“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success. Greatness will come.” – Dwayne Johnson

Another quote that I like a lot. At day 63, I was thinking about my goals for the next 66 days:

“Coming to the end of the first 66 days and I’m planning well for the next. Goals will include – Strength for triathlon – Fat Loss – Swimming speed.”

I then went on to clarify what each of these meant and the processes I need to put in place to create consistency for them to become habits. I then have a meeting in the diary every week to review and check on progress and tweak anything that is required. For example, I quickly realised I had an issue with my shoulder that was hindering my swimming technique and therefore speed. Rather that try to ignore it, which I have done in the past, I set a interim goal to have the shoulder looked at by a physio. When it did not get better, get it looked at by a specialist. In the past, this injury would have dragged on for months, within 4 weeks I’d had 5 physio sessions, seen a consultant and had an MRI. The overall goal is still to swim faster, but by checking the overall goal regularly, I am setting smaller goals and putting processes in place to make sure I achieve it.
