“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together” – Vincent Van Gogh

I wonder if this was the inspiration for Sir David Brailsford and his infamous ‘Marginal Gains’ (apparently he wished he hadn’t used that term).


I guess this is like exercise. We do small things each day and on a single day they appear to not make any difference. But brought together over time, that is when you see a difference, it is not instantaneous, it takes time, sometimes weeks, months or even years.


Day 22 – well done, how are you getting on with your own Marginal Gains? A little extract from my journal:


“Reached the 1/3 mark today – things could start to get messy”.


And they did, but I did not have this group, I think this is where we really need to support each other.
